How it works

Five ways through the same material

Not five courses side by side, but five ways into one subject. That is why it sticks: you meet the same term in the text, in your ears, on a card, in the exercise and in the exam.

    Read

    Every lesson explains one term at a time, always with an everyday picture first and the technical word second. No sentence assumes anything that has not been explained before it.

    Listen

    Every module comes with an episode you can take with you. In the car, on a walk, at the sink. Listen three times and the cards become a check rather than a chore.

    Review

    The boxes in the reading text are the cards in the deck. Whatever you got wrong comes back in minutes, whatever stuck comes back in weeks.

    Build

    Every lesson ends with an exercise on your own machine and a list of signs that you are done. Nothing sticks without doing it yourself.

    Prove it

    Every module ends with a timed exam. Questions are drawn from a large pool, so no two attempts are the same.

Certificates

Proof you cannot click your way to

Certificates for finishing a video are everywhere, and they are worth nothing because they test nothing. Here the certificate hangs on an exam, and that exam is built so that passing it means something.

  • Questions are drawn fresh for every attempt from a pool at least three times the size of the exam.
  • The answers never leave the server. Your browser gets the question and the options, nothing else.
  • There is a time limit. Without one, any knowledge test is a lookup exercise.
  • After a failed attempt you have to wait, and the wait grows with every further one.
  • Every certificate carries a number and a seal over the details printed on it. Change a figure and the verification page catches it.

What people ask most

I have never written a line of code. Is this for me?+

Yes, starting with the basics course. It assumes nothing and explains every term before it uses it. After that you will know whether you want to carry on, and it will not have cost you anything.

What language are the lessons in?+

German, every one of them, along with the flashcards, the exam questions and the podcast. This interface is also available in English; the course material is not.

How much time does this really take?+

The figures on the course pages are calculated, not advertised. Six months means 24 weeks at ten hours, so 240 hours. If you have less time you will take longer, and that is fine. The weekly plan stays the same.

Will a certificate get me a job?+

No, and anyone who claims otherwise is not being straight with you. A certificate and a portfolio get you the interview. Whether you pass it is decided in the technical round, and there is a course here for exactly that.

Why is this so much cheaper than other providers?+

Because nobody teaches live and nobody phones you. The material is written, recorded and reviewed once, which costs work once rather than staff every month.

Can I cancel monthly?+

Yes, effective at the end of the current month, with one click in your account. Within the first fourteen days you can also withdraw and get the full amount back.

The written material is edited and reviewed by a person. The podcast audio is machine narrated, which is stated in the footer of every page. Where a figure comes from another provider, the date it was last checked is printed next to it.
